minus18meter – We all have histories. Birgit Naomi Glatzel has one that keeps coming up. She had a suitcase locked up in the basement since 1999, filled to the brim with memories and stories. After almost twenty years she has opened this suitcase and dealt with the relics of her past. From documents and photographs, she creates a radically alienated version of her story, in which conflicts overlap, tensions are retouched and fractures are artistically cemented.

The freelance concept artist and architect Birgit Naomi Glatzel has already worked intensively with painting and photography during her architectural studies and has been working mainly in the field of photography since 1998. In the same year she started her photo project “a friend is a friend of a friend”, with which she attracted international attention. Her works were shown – among others – at the Biennale in Tirana (“ideal city” 2003), the Venice Biennale (new land “urban-shift.net” 2004), in Berlin, Jerusalem, London, Paris, Tel Aviv and Kiev.
