Bo Larsen – DÄNISCHE SÜDSEE – Paintings 2017/2018
As a German artist with Danish roots, Bo Larsen was inspired by the Danish South Sea (Baltic Sea) and focuses on the beauty of the Danish coasts on large-format, expressive paintings. His works are particularly impressive due to the multifaceted colour and shape of the Danish sea and the reflecting cities and landscapes of Denmark.
On the occasion of the Gallery Weekend Berlin 2018 (27th – 29th April 2018) the exhibition “Danish South Sea” will be opened at the Hotel Waldorf Astoria Berlin on 26th April 2018. The works can then be seen there until 7th June 2018.
Bo Larsen, born in 1986, was born the third son of a German mother and a Danish father in Karlsruhe and grew up in Denmark and Germany. Already as preschooler his teachers took notice of his special creative talents. As a young student he started to become interested in filmography and after graduation he completed his studies as a director’s assistant. He thought that he would be able to reach a larger audience with this “modern” medium in comparison to painting. Nevertheless, he continued to use painting as an outlet for his creative expression. His great role models include the painters Gerhard Richter and Jackson Pollock.
Due to his great success, he rented a studio and created his series MIRAGE and other works in 2016, which were presented in April 2017 on the occasion of the Gallery Weekend Berlin in his first solo exhibition. Many of his works are now part of German and foreign collections.
