TierischMenschlich – or: street photography meets sculpture!
TierischMenschlich – Sculptures & Photographies by Reinhold Petermann and Christian Reister
Since the Stone Age, artists have been inspired by animals and humans and a diverse art has emerged over the millennium. It is always striking how often the behaviours of living creatures resemble each other: the dancing and singing birds – dancing tango and playing the flute; at the potions (bar, child at the ice stand); human and animal in line (parrot); the dogs chasing the ball …
The exhibition shows selected works by the two artists, each of which has a very individual view of man and beast, but in some cases they complement each other surprisingly well. With a winking eye, the sculptures by Reinhold Petermann are presented together with the photographs by Christian Reister.
Reinhold Petermann (1925 – 2016) created more than 300 works throughout his life, with figurative sculptures (female and male bodies, animal figures), the focus of his work. Numerous watercolours and drawings supplement the oeuvre of this multifaceted artist. Two volumes of poetry have also come into existence from his quill.
Christian Reister (b. 1972) works in the subjects of street photography, documentation and portrait. In over forty exhibitions, his works were shown across Europe. His photographs are published worldwide in magazines and newspapers. The author has published several photobooks and Zines, most recently “Alle Katzen Grau” (2015) and the “Driftwood” series (five editions since 2016). More information about Christian Reister.
