Sabine Beyerle UNTERWEGS – Paintings
Sabine Beyerle UNTERWEGS – Paintings
In this solo exhibition, we present paintings of Berlin-based artist Sabine Beyerle (*1975), which capture the essence of being on the road. While travelling, the artist uses her camera to collect ideas – this can be in the far distance, but also just around the corner in a Berlin backyard or in a Brandenburg meadow landscape. In her paintings, she focuses on the fleeting and the inconspicuous. She is looking out for structures and details that are often taken for granted and ignored. Chairs, ladders or a string of lights on a wire mesh fence appear. Her pictures tell of the ephemeral, the play of light and shadow, the rustle of a gust of wind and the growth and decay of nature. Generous gestural abstract forms are combined with highly precise naturalistic painting. Pours of colour, generous brushstrokes and dissolutions are at the beginning of her working process. The result is an abstract pictorial background that invites chance and chaos into her work.
Sabine Beyerle’s paintings, which at first glance appear figurative, are interwoven with elements of abstract painting. These ‘empty spaces’ float like free forms in the pictorial space and offer insights into the background and the painting process, while their function remains open and enigmatic. They function as formal pictorial elements, sometimes also as a disturbance, but can also symbolise movement, wind, energy or growth and give the viewer room for their own interpretations.

Food Art Performance ‘Edible Landscapes’
Inspired by the pictures in Sabine Beyerle’s ‘Unterwegs’ exhibition, sustainable food artist Anja Fiedler will interpret the themes, colours and landscapes of the pictures in a culinary way and celebrate a food art performance entitled ‘Edible Landscapes’.
Just as people are absent from Sabine Beyerle’s works, cultivated plants will be absent from this food art performance. Instead, forgotten and often overlooked delicacies from our surroundings and landscapes will be served up. In five multi-sensory stages, Anja Fiedler serves up wild and surprising flavours from the city, meadows, forests and moors. Anyone with all their senses open to tasting their way through a meadow from blossom to hay, from leaf to wood through our trees and sinking into the bog with relish will be rewarded with unexpected delicacies. Nina Fuchs will develop drinks from the respective landscapes to match the menu.
Since 2009, Anja Fiedler has been creating food art and her project ‘Stadt macht satt’ (City makes you full) to reflect on current social issues and possible futures in an enjoyable way. She draws her inspiration from nature, newspaper quotes and her travels and then often spends weeks experimenting in the kitchen. From inconspicuous, often underestimated foods, she creates true treasures of flavour, which she enhances with poetry, facts and new perspectives. These edible works of art not only unfold on the palate, but also inspire reflection and give rise to individual perspectives on one’s own eating landscape. Her projects have already won several awards and she has learnt from natural and star chef Stefan Wiesner, among others.
