Marco Kaufmann
Born in 1975 in Vorpommern and living in Berlin, the artist Marco Kaufmann graduated in free art (painting and photography) from the Berlin-Weißensee School of Art after professional training as a graphic designer.
Marco Kaufmann has travelled extensively as part of his photographic projects, including India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, the USA, South America, Morocco and almost all overEurope.
He was awarded a scholarship from the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern for his artistic commitment and was supported during his studies by the scholarship of the German National Academic Foundation.
In 2009, Marco carried out his photographic travel project “Anrandungen” with the support of the NaFöG scholarship of the Berlin Senate and the German Academic Exchange Service.
Inspired by the city, the country, his travels and photographs, he translates what he feels and thinks into different techniques as a subjective variant of reality – he paints, casts, sprays, glues.
Currently, the artist is working on exciting new paintings in his Berlin studio.
“Marco Kaufmann’s current works are the result of a certain phase in his creative life. A pause apparently, filled with sadness. The world had also come to a standstill. Works that at the same time reflect his great creative power and zest for life in powerful and clear images. In defiance of circumstances and fate. The adhesive strips he uses to mark his clear edges and colourful horizons have wandered. To finally take on a life of their own and become a work of art themselves.” (Halina Rasinski)
His works can be found in private and public collections.
Marco Kaufmann lives and works in Berlin.
