Bo Larsen, MIRAGE – Paintings 2016/2017
On the occasion of the Gallery Weekend Berlin, the latest works by the young German-Danish artist Bo Larsen will be shown.
Bo Larsen has not attended an art college or academy, but came to his knowledge and learned his techniques through intensive study of the works of his idols, among others, Gerhard Richter and Jackson Pollock. From this the young artist has created his own style and further developed the artistic portrayals of his idols.
In his works, he focuses on his emotions and feelings. The images which can be attributed to abstract expressionism, open up the viewer with a new dimension of the interpretation of abstract forms through the multifaceted colour and form design.
In the MIRAGE I, II and III series, which gave the title to this exhibition, Bo Larsen was inspired by aerial mirrors or “mirages”; they show the blurred, overflowing perceptions of a landscape, which he perceived in Berlin on the Tempelhofer Feld. Viewers of these pictures have been reminded of Berlin, New York, or both.
The artist lives and works in Berlin.
